McEachran and Aziz Deen-Conteh both started England's game against Belgium on Wednesday, the side having already made the next stage of the European Championship qualification process. McEachran was taken off 61 minutes in, before England equalised a first-half goal late on, only to concede a winner two minutes from time.
Anton Rodgers reamained on the bench for Republic of Ireland Under 19s' 1-0 defeat to Serbia but Ireland progress having finished second in their group. Milan Lalkovic was unable to take part in Slovakia Under 19s qualifiers due a hamstring injury suffered in our reserve win over Liverpool.
The Academy is also feeling the effects of absence, though more through injury than international calls. The latest to be struck down is Austrian forward Philipp Prosenik.
'Philipp has unfortunately got a long-term knee injury and will be out for quite a long period of time,' youth team manager Dermot Drummy reports. 'He's going to go back to Austria to see his family for a week and then will come back and do what rehab he can.
'He had a knee problem before and was just psychologically getting over it, scoring well and looking like a good number nine. We were playing off him well and this was an innocuous challenge, it's just plain unlucky. Now we'll have to play a slightly different way as we haven't got another number nine to come in.'
A lack of goals in recent weeks has been noticeable, though understandable with the current injury problems and a young side.
'If we had our complete Youth Cup side out you'd be looking at the league table and results as a barometer, but we haven't so we're looking at the performances which are very pleasing,' Drummy explains.
'The results haven't come for a number of reasons, sometimes errors, sometimes we haven't taken our chances. We have our main forward out but we're playing with spirit, enthusiasm and a nice technical game.
'So we're happy in one aspect but we know that if you don't get results sometimes it can have a negative effect, but it's my job to keep the boys buoyant and explain the real goal we're trying to achieve. We know we have a shortage of players due to injury but we have to deal with it and persevere.'
Eight Under 16 schoolboys have already been utilised, and the first-year scholars have gained more match action than would often be expected at this point in the season, giving cause to smile.
'It's pleasing,' Drummy says. 'Jamal Blackman is performing and has made a number of outstanding saves and looks an assured goalkeeper. Amin Affane and Toddy Kane have been performing very well, as has Archange Nkumu, and the others are still adjusting to the day-to-day regime.
'We have moved players up a level, and that's the right way but we have to be careful that when you push players up a level they sometimes need to dip back in to their own level.
'We usually get that in the Youth Cup. For instance Josh McEachran has flown on because he's an elite talent, but we've had Billy Clifford play for us, Rohan Ince has dipped back in, and Nathaniel Chalobah has had two games in the youth and he's an Under 16. Those boys may find at times they are performing well but then hit flat periods, so we must never forget the age of these boys and the development curve that they're on.'
Josh McEachran

RESERVE REPORT: CHELSEA 3 LIVERPOOL 1
Nathaniel Chalobah (pictured above, no. 6), Fabio Borini and Adam Phillip were the scorers in a deserved league win over Liverpool at Cobham on Monday afternoon, following up well on an away win at Newcastle earlier this month.
Chalobah's goal was the first at this level for the 15-year-old; Borini's strike was the best of the game and Phillip repeated his feat at St James Park of scoring having come on as a sub. Two of the goals came from Gokhan Tore assists.
Chelsea were down to 10 men by the time the third goal went in during the final quarter of an hour, Liverpool having pulled their goal back to make it 2-1 just before the break.
Jose Bosingwa continued his comeback from injury with 70 minutes in this game and the Portuguese international right back was forward early on supplying an over-hit cross and then a shot, but it was Tore who first tested the Liverpool keeper with a low effort.
Martin Hansen, the man between their posts, soon had to react sharply to keep out a Borini shot which he saved onto the near post.
Liverpool were then asked to survive a succession of goalmouth scrambles, the closest they came to conceding coming from a Borini shot which pushed over from close range.
Chelsea had started well but were fortunate when they left Danny Wilson unmarked at the far post but the Liverpool centre-back headed a Jonjo Shelvey cross over.
The Blues were soon back down the other end and Sala almost forced one of the Merseysiders' defenders to slice a cross into his own net. From the corner, the home team scored, Chalobah meeting Tore's delivery to head down into the turf, the ball bouncing high and into the net despite the presence of a man on the post.
On 25 minutes Steve Holland was forced into a change when Milan Lalkovic on the run appeared to pull a hamstring. Kaby came on as a direct replacement.
Jan Sebek in the Chelsea goal saved on 27 minutes when Billy Clifford, who initially had done well to cover back and win the ball, gave it to David Amoo. But again Chelsea responded well to a chance allowed to our opponents.
A swift attack was finished off by Borini who received a good pass from Tore and finished it with style, shooting across the keeper and just inside the far post. Twenty-seven minutes had been played and Liverpool were finding it hard to get hold of the ball.
Bosingwa showed he is still not quite up to full speed as he struggled to keep pace with the powerful Amoo down the flank on one run but the cross came to nothing.
However on 42 minutes Liverpool crossed again from the left and this time Rohan Ince's clearance was poor, Fernandez finding the net from the edge of the area to make it 2-1.
Danny Pappoe had a firm header cleared off the line near the beginning of a second half that begun with two Chelsea changes. Adam Phillip came on for Tore who had been struggling with an injury before the interval, and Aziz Deen-Conteh replaced Jacob Mellis, that one aplanned sub due to Mellis's presence in tomorrow's Champions League squad.
Liverpool nearly scored an equaliser that wouldn't have reflected the balance of the game when Sebek failed to meet a corner and the ball was headed wide just at the far post, and Pappoe conceded a foul for which he was booked as the Blues play lost a little of its impetus.
There was a save from Kaby from a tight-angle as the home side did stretch Liverpool at the back just beyond the hour before the scheduled removal of Boswinga on the back of the Mellis substitution and two injuries meant a man disadvantage for the final 20 minutes.
The 10-men continued to look strong and the game was made safe on 77 minutes when Borini made the most of a great ball by Billy Clifford into the corner, skinning the full back and crossing low for Phillip's first-time finish that went in via a deflection off Liverpool defender Andre Wisdom.
The away team, understandably given their numerical advantage, had the better of the final minutes but couldn't find a way through the imposing Pappoe/Ince central defence. There was much for manager Steve Holland to be pleased about against a club traditionally strong at this level.
Chelsea (4-3-3): Jan Sebek; Jose Bosingwa, Danny Pappoe, Rohan Ince, Billy Clifford; Jacopo Sala, Nathaniel Chalobah, Jacob Mellis (Aziz Deen-Conteh h-t); Gokhan Tore (Adam Phillip h-t), Borini, Lalkovic (Kaby 25).
Liverpool (4-2-3-1): Martin Hansen; Stephen Darby, Andre Wisdom, Danny Wilson, Jack Robinson; Daniel Pacheco, Jonjo Shelvey; Thomas Ince, Jesus Fernandez, David Amoo (Chrys Mavinga 71); Nathan Eccleston.

RESERVE REPORT: WEST BROMWICH ALBION 4 CHELSEA 5
Captain Fabio Borini netted an amazing five times to bring Chelsea back from 3-0 down on a cold afternoon in Birmingham.
A nine-goal thriller saw an Ishmael Miller hat-trick put Chelsea on the back foot before Borini pulled two back in the first half.
A further second-half hat-trick from the Italian then secured the Blues victory after the side went 4-3 down after the break.
Manager Steve Holland chose three debutants in his back line as Todd Kane, Archange Nkumu and Ben Sampayo all lined up alongside Rohan Ince, who would later be replaced by George Saville for today's fourth first-time reserve appearance.
Borini sat in the centre of an attacking trio including Jacopo Sala on the right and Adam Phillip on the left. Meanwhile, Conor Clifford, Daniel Philliskirk and Aliu Djalo made up the midfield.
It was a slow start to the game for Chelsea, as we conceded a corner in the opening seconds. Walker was tested twice inside the opening 10 minutes, first smothering a Romaine Sawyers chance and then denying the number 9's second attempt by deflecting onto the bar.
Chelsea retaliated with Borini forcing an acrobatic save from West Bromwich keeper Ryan Allsop after feeding off a Philliskirk ball. Minutes later the Italian won a corner when he volleyed a Kane cross goalwards.
But the hosts took the lead when, with 22 minutes played, Miller stole possession from Walker and tapped in from close range after the Chelsea keeper fumbled an earlier shot on target.
Within seconds of the restart West Brom's number 10 had made it two after chesting down a cross from the right flank and coolly striking into the net with his right foot.
It was a bad start for the Blues, one that was about to get worse when Miller netted his hat-trick only two minutes before the half-hour mark. This time it was a left-footed strike from 25 yards out which curled into the top left when the striker was gifted time and space to shoot.
Borini started the comeback four minutes later when Allsop failed to hold onto a Sala shot and the Italian smashed the loose ball into the net from close range, making it 3-1.
It was only two minutes after Chelsea's first that Borini made it two when he dribbled past the host's defence without being challenged and calmly struck into the net at the far post, despite having two defenders and the keeper between him and the goal.
Not much then happened before the half-time whistle blew, with most of the game taking place in midfield as both sides battled to control possession. Holland made no changes during the break while Miller made way for George Thorne on the other side.
Within five minutes of the restart Borini secured his hat-trick after Phillip was brought down inside the area and our number 9 stepped up to send West Brom's keeper the way wrong way and slot in the bottom left. The game was 3-3 with 50 minutes played.
There were still three goals to come in this closely contested fixture and the first went to West Brom after Walker fumbled again. This time a Clifford mistake gifted Lateef Elford-Alliyu possession on the edge of the box and after Walker failed to hold onto his initial shot, he followed up and finished from close range.
Sala then hit the near post with a corner ball before Borini scored a brilliant goal by drilling with his right foot from just inside the area after feeding off a Phillip ball. Allsop could only watch as the ball flew into his own net.
Now it was 4-4 but Borini still had one goal left in him to put Chelsea in front for the first and only time in the fixture.
Once Ince had made way for Saville to make his debut, the Blues changed from a 4-3-3 formation to 4-4-2, with Sala moving back into midfield.
Not long after Holland's change of tactics, Borini netted a fifth. After finding himself in space and with time to aim an accurate shot, the Italian drilled a brilliantly placed strike into the top left from 25 yards out. Possession had fell to him when a Sala cross was deflected into his path.
It was Borini's seventh goal in four games and the last strike in an enthralling encounter against a tough West Brom side. A brilliant comeback from Chelsea and a great game of football all round.
Chelsea (4-3-3): Sam Walker; Todd Kane, Archange Nkumu, Rohan Ince (George Saville 75), Ben Sampayo; Conor Clifford, Daniel Philliskirk (Michael Woods 88), Aliu Djalo; Jacopo Sala, Fabio Borini (c), Adam Phillip (Bobby Devyne 90).

NEW AND DEPARTING PROFESSIONALS
NEW AND DEPARTING PROFESSIONALS
Eight Chelsea Academy players have signed their first professional contracts with the club.
The list includes six who were involved in last season's FA Youth Cup triumph.
Last season the players were all first-year scholars so are beginning their second season full-time at the club.
The eight are the Youth Cup full-backs Aziz Deen-Conteh and Billy Clifford, centre-back/midfielders Rohan Ince and George Saville, midfielder James Ashton, Slovakian attacker Milan Lalkovic, Austrian striker Philipp Prosenik and new European Under 17 champion with England, Josh McEachran.
Six of last season's young players who played below first-team level have been released this summer.
They are goalkeepers Niclas Heimann and Aldi Haxhia and outfield players Nana Ofori-Twumasi, Nikki Ahamed, Liam Bridcutt and Kenny Strickland.
Defender Ofori-Twumasi, who was part of the 2008 youth team that reached the FA Youth Cup Final, has joined League One Peterborough United on a three-year contract. He played 10 games for Chelsea Reserves last season, 34 in total, and also played on-loan at Dagenham and Redbridge.
Heimann has signed for Austrian club Red Star Salzburg. The German's two reserve appearances came before last season but he did play twice for the youth team in the 2009/10 campaign.
Haxhia was a more regular youth team keeper last season with 11 games to his name and 17 in total. He made one reserve appearance in two seasons.
Full-back/midfielder Ahamed scored once in 12 reserve appearances, 11 of which came last season.
Bridcutt, a defensive midfielder or defender, has been on loan at Watford, Yeovil and Stockport. He leaves Chelsea having played 44 reserve games, eight of which were last season.
Centre-back Strickland's one-year contract with Chelsea ended with seven reserve appearances and one goal plus 22 youth appearances and one goal.
Chelsea Football Club would like to wish all the players good luck in their careers and thanks them for the contribution during their time here.
